How to move a hang rod

Moving a hang rod is one of the easiest ways to update your closet layout. This can help create more long-hang or short-hang space depending on your wardrobe.

1. On each end of the rod, locate the rod cups.
2. Remove the bar from the cups by pushing firmly up on the bar.
3. Pull out the two rod cups and reinsert them at the desired height.
4. Make sure both rod cups are installed at the same level.
5. Place the rod back into the cups.

How to move an adjustable shelf

Adjustable shelves can be repositioned quickly to better fit your storage needs. This is helpful if you need more room for folded items, shoes, bins, or accessories.

1. Remove the shelf by lifting one end straight up about 2 inches, then lift it out.
2. Remove all four shelf pins.
3. Reinsert the shelf pins at the desired height.
4. Replace the shelf back onto the pins.

How to move a fixed shelf

Fixed shelves take a few more steps, but they can still be adjusted when needed. Be sure to work carefully and keep track of all hardware during the process.

1. Locate the plastic cam on the shelf. Each cam has two holes, one square and one round.
2. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, insert it into the round hole at a slight angle.
3. Unlock the cam lock with a quarter-turn counterclockwise.
4. Watch for the metal tooth in the square hole to recess back into the cam housing.
5. Repeat this on all four cams.
6. Lift the shelf to release it.
7. Move the four screws in the side panels to the desired height.
8. Reinstall the shelf.
9. Retighten the locking cam mechanisms in all four corners.
